Sometimes lurking in unlikely locations, Zagreb clubs offer everything from jazz, funk and alternative music, through to new and old R&B, hip hop to edgier electro beats.
Ok, so you're done with your long day walks around museums and sightseeing, and now it's time to sip on your favourite beverage and cut some rug. We can totally relate, that's why we are about to introduce you to an incredible nightclubbing scene of Croatia's capital. Sometimes lurking in unlikely locations, Zagreb clubs offer everything from jazz, funk and alternative music, through to new and old R&B, hip hop to edgier electro beats. So, without further ado, here are the best clubs in the city.
First on our list La Bodega Zagreb. In the lively streets packed with bars, and clubs, La Bodega Zagreb offers rustic tavern atmosphere where you can enjoy over 250 different, domestic Croatian wine labels, authentic prosciutto and cheese from various regions of Croatia. This chic wine bar is located in the heart of the city centre and is well known amongst the locals as wine haven accompanied by quality music programmes.
Also located in the city centre, more precisely on the main city square, Johann Franck is yet another hip place in Zagreb. During the day here you can have excellent coffee and delicious food, but when moon replaces the sun, you better get your groove on, because the mezzanine and ground levels inside of the club get packed out with crowds dancing to popular DJ-hosted music.
Is it a hostel, is it a club, is it a bar? Well, it's all in one…it's the famous Swanky Monkey Garden, probably one of the coolest places in Zagreb. Here, dull moments are unknown. From regularly organised events which include live bands, acoustic sets, DJ's, movie nights, wine promotions, warm-ups to festivals and more, to their signature cocktails, if you want to go partying, you've come to the right place.
From fancy wine bars and hipster cocktails, it's time to move away from the city centre and get the party started in Zagreb famous long-lasting clubs. Situated along Jarun Lake, Aquarius club first opened its gate in 1992. With two floors pumping different music, from Electro Jazz to RnB, this is the place where you'll get your Saturday night fever going.
Prior known as OTV club, Boogaloo is a mega club that will host anything from heavy metal bands to famous DJ sets. Separated into two areas, you can choose whether to headbang near the stage in the large area or take it down a notch in the adjoining chill-out room.
We will finish our list with two prominent Zagreb clubs known to locals since the '80s as the places of ultimate fun and rebellious alternative scene. First on our list is Jabuka club, last haven of true, non-soft rock music in Zagreb. Always pumping '80s electro-pop hits, this is a place to get your melancholic mood on. Or, if your somewhat younger, this is a place to earn more about incredible music from the past.
The last club on our list, similar to Jabuka club is KSET. Students from all walks of life entered this ''way too cool for school'' place at least once. KSET has actively promoted new bands for decades and is known as an oasis for underground, post-rock, Americana, avant-jazz, punk, rap, and ethno artists. The club is run by students, thus known for its cultural impact, incredible atmosphere and industrial interior.
The list is here, pick your favourites & dance your worries away…
